We really thought this week’s whippee was going to stick it.

Maria Parra was fighting off a vicious pump partway up Contacto (5.10c) at the Rocas del Abra crag, in Zipaquira, Colombia, when she began fumbling with a key clip. Rather than give up, Parra battled through a few more moves—making a questionable decision to grab a quickdraw at one point—and spotted a drop-knee rest for her to finally clip from. However, as she eased her right hip into the wall, her right foot slipped off and she careened dramatically, face out, away from the cliff.

Happy Friday, and be safe out there this weekend. Thanks to Juan Camilo Ramírez Vega for the video.
